Pour l'obtention des lingots polycristallins à gros grains, les méthodes de coulée - (solidification ou de fusion - solidification de type directionnel) (Polix et Photowatt) sont des procédés très simples. La première méthode consiste à couler le silicium fondu dans un moule où il se solidifie, la seconde à fondre le silicium de départ dans un creuset puis à le solidifier dans ce même creuset.
